Evergreen bonsai

Taxus cuspidata, also known as Japanese Yew or Spreading Yew, is a slow-growing evergreen tree or large shrub native to Japan, Korea, northeast China and the extreme southeast of Russia. It is widely used for hedges, foundation and bank plantings, and similar purposes and can be pruned to grow as a tree. This plant prefers moist, well-drained soil, and tolerates shade well. It has yellow-green new growth, which later turns to a rich dark green, and features red berries. It is the parent of many cultivars and can live up to 1,000 years.

Shrub

A very attractive, medium-sized shrub native to southeastern Australia with unusual, triangular, pale bluish green foliage (phyllodes) and masses of fragrant, round, yellow flowers in late winter or sping. Easily and popularly grown in a variety of warm temperate climates in USDA Zones 9 to 11, it is hardy to drought and moderate freezes. Seeds must be scarified or immersed in boiling water for 30 seconds to break dormancy, then soaked at room temperature for a day.

Euphorbia lathyris, the caper spurge or paper spurge, is a species of spurge native to southern Europe, northwest Africa, and eastward through southwest Asia to western China. Other names occasionally used include gopher spurge, gopher plant or mole plant.

Vitex agnus-castus, also known as Lilac Chastetree, Monks Pepper Tree or Chaste Tree, is a native of the Mediterranean region and is best grown in loose, well-drained soil and full sun. In USDA Zones 5 and 6, this shrub often suffers winter die back or dies to the ground in severe winters. However, even though plants may die to the ground in these zones, the roots often survive and push up 5' of new growth in the following year. This species of chaste tree is typically grown in warm winter climates as a vase-shaped, deciduous shrub (to 10-15' tall) or trained as a single trunk tree to 20' tall.

Viburnum lentago, the nannyberry, sheepberry, or sweet viburnum, is a species of Viburnum native to North America.

A small to medium sized, evergreen tree, rarely to 30 m tall, with large, simple leaves and strange but beautiful, globose inflorescences followed by curiously pitted, yellow, edible fruits with sweet, white pulp reminiscent of apples in flavor. Nauclea xanthoxylon is native to tropical Africa, where it grows in wet, usually swampy areas. It adapts well to cultivation in tropical climates and starts producing fruits after only a few years. It is, however, essentially unknown in cultivation outside of Africa.
