$9.26
Unit price perThis is an excellent plant for a difficult spot where little else will grow. Old Field Goldenrod likes full sun and dry soil, even poor, rocky, clay slopes with little organic matter. The long, narrow inflorescence is somewhat wider in the middle and will nod down slightly when flowering for a month or so in the fall. Solidago nemoralis is one of the shortest Goldenrods, reaching 2' at most. Other distinguishing features include small winged leaflets on the main stem and fuzzy white texture on the leaves and stem. It tends to bloom later in the fall than other Goldenrods. Solidago nemoralis is also often called Gray Goldenrod or simply Field Goldenrod.

The wild carrot is a herbaceous, somewhat variable biennial plant that grows between 30 and 60 cm (1 and 2 ft) tall, and is roughly hairy, with a stiff, solid stem. The leaves are tripinnate, finely divided and lacy, and overall triangular in shape. The leaves are bristly and alternate in a pinnate pattern that separates into thin segments. The flowers are small and dull white, clustered in flat, dense umbels. The umbels are terminal and approximately 3-4 inches (8-10 cm) wide.[2] They may be pink in bud and may have a reddish or purple flower in the centre of the umbel. The lower bracts are three-forked or pinnate, which distinguishes the plant from other white-flowered umbellifers. As the seeds develop, the umbel curls up at the edges, becomes more congested, and develops a concave surface. The fruits are oval and flattened, with short styles and hooked spines.[4] The fruit is small, dry and bumpy with protective hairs surrounding it.[2] The fruit of Daucus carota has two mericarps, or bicarpellate. The endosperm of the fruit grows before the embryo.[5] The dried umbels detach from the plant, becoming tumbleweeds.[6] The function of the tiny red flower, coloured by anthocyanin, is to attract insects. Wild carrot blooms in summer and fall. It thrives best in sun to partial shade. Daucus carota is commonly found along roadsides and in unused fields. Similar in appearance to the deadly poison hemlock, D. carota is distinguished by a mix of tripinnate leaves, fine hairs on its solid green stems and on its leaves, a root that smells like carrots, and occasionally a single dark red flower in the center of the umbel.

The guava shrub requires low maintenance, and is relatively easy to cultivate. The seeds germinate easily if sown in potting soil and kept warm. The guava seems indiscriminate to soil type, doing equally well on heavy clay, marl, light sand, gravel bars near streams, or on limestone; and tolerating a pH range from 4.5 to 9.4.

Elderberry trees don't require special conditions to grow, flower and have fruits. However, when given optimum conditions, they will grow stronger and healthier and yield larger crops. Elderberries prefer rich and moist, but not waterlogged positions, with the soil pH around 5.5 and 6.5, but will tolerate a wide range of soil types, fertility and pH levels. Make a hole some 50 cm (20 inches) wide and deep, add some compost and aged manure, mix with the soil and refill the hole, leaving enough room for elderberry plant and root ball. If there is a danger o wind, stick the pole of suitable length and thickness into the soil. Plant the elderberry into the soil, press the soil firmly, tie the plant to the pole and water thoroughly. Elderberries respond well to fertilizers, however, they have shallow roots and digging in the fertilizers must be done carefully in order to avoid roots damage. Early in the spring add balanced (for example 10-10-10) fertilizer, around 50-60g for each plant's year (up to 2kg of NPK fertilizer) spread evenly under treetop area. Also, add some compost and/or humus and dig in carefully. During summer, if required, add 25-30g of balanced fertilizer for each plant's year.
