WHITE POPPING SORGHUM SEED,Grain, floral arrangements (dried or fresh flower)(3000 Seeds)
$13.44
Unit price perWHITE POPPING SORGHUM SEED,Grain, floral arrangements (dried or fresh flower)(3000 Seeds)
$13.44
Unit price perSorghum is gluten-free and an interesting alternative to the typical home-grown grain choice of corn (maize). It is an efficient use of space as it grows close together, and it tastes good.
This variety of sorghum can be popped like popcorn! The tiny seeds when popped are very white and smaller- but crunchy. They really have a great nutty flavor. White Popping Sorghum should be planted in warm soils after any danger of frost. The small cream colored round seeds should be planted at a depth of about 1/2 inch. Germination takes ten days or longer depending on growing conditions. The seedlings may need to be thinned so plants are spaced 6-8 inches apart. The plant will form many small “suckers” . These small suckers will likely produce a seed head, too. The sorghum plants will grow to heights of 8-10 feet or taller. The seed head is somewhat compact with fewer fibers than most broom corns, but looser than the Black Seeded or Black Kafir sorghums. Maturity varies from 100-110 days, but seed heads can be harvested at any stage of development. Typical seed heads are about 10-12 inches long. Again it has multi uses- it can be popped or used in floral arrangements (dried or fresh flower). Soil Temperature: 65-80°F
Planting Depth: 1
Germination: 7-10 Days
Height At Maturity: 10'-12'
Sun/Shade: Full Sun
Spacing After Thinning: 3 -4

Unit price perHairy Vetch Seeds, Food Plot Used As a Cover Crop, Green Manure, Pasture, Silage, and Hay
$12.09
Unit price perHairy vetch is a nitrogen fixing legume that provides excellent biomass over the winter, helps control soil erosion and acts as a ground cover. Its pea-type flowers are a lovely violet color. One Lb will cover 1,000 square feet. Hairy vetch is widely known as a top legume for Nitrogen fixation. Foliage grows slowly in fall, but root development continues over winter in Southern states. Growth speeds up in spring, when hairy vetch becomes a sprawling vine up to 12 feet long. Field height will not get above 3 feet. Thick foliage suppresses spring weeds. Hairy vetch is a hardy, viny, annual or biennial legume, attaining a height of 24 inches when planted alone and higher when planted with a tall companion crop that provides structural support for climbing. Thin, branched stems can reach more than 8 feet long. Compound leaves are made up of 8 to 24 paired, narrow leaflets. Leaves terminate with a tendril used for climbing. Despite its name, stems and leaves can be hairy or smooth. Hairy vetch has a taproot that extends 1 to 3 feet deep. Fall-planted hairy vetch flowers in April and ripens seed in May-June. Groups of 10 to 40 small, long, blue flowers hang from one side of a long flower stem. Spherical seeds (approximately 28,000/lb) are smaller than common vetch seeds. They develop in small pods and usually are grayish or black. Hairy vetch is hardseeded

The first flush of bloom is in early summer, with a brief rest before the second and then third repeats. Imagine all the flowers you will have for vases as well as garden enjoyment! But its tremendous bloom strength is only one of 'Blue Moon' attributes. It needs no pruning, and should only be trimmed back if necessary after the final flowering. Let it ramble across pergolas, over arches, and up trellises and other ultra-sturdy supports, dangling its huge blooms along the way. A fully blooming 'Blue Moon' is a breathtaking sight! Give this vine as much sunlight as possible for best flowering. It flourishes in moist, well-drained soil enriched with compost and other organics.
