Planting daffodil bulbs: - In the Fall, choose a spot that is mostly sunny or has only light shade. Also make sure that the location has fairly good drainage and does not tend to get waterlogged.
- Planting daffodil bulbs is fairly simple. Bulbs look much like a small onion, sometimes with a spike or point on one side and sometimes with wiry roots growing out of the other side. Plant with the spike pointing up.
- Follow the rule of thumb when planting bulbs and give the bulbs at least 2 times their height of soil above them. Narcissus like a deep planting in light soil. Dig a 6-7 inch hole, drop the bulb into it and cover with soil.
- Regarding the spacing between bulbs, if planting in beds, leave approx 5-6 inches between each bulb. If you are planting in containers, you can cluster them a little closer together.
- After planting, water well so that the soil above the bulbs settles.
- Daffodil bulbs will flower in the spring. After the flowers die back in late spring or early summer, let the plant enjoy a drier, warmer rest period. After leaves die back, stop watering so that the bulb can rest.
- In cooler zones, you can leave daffodil bulbs in the ground over winter so that they can receive their required period of winter cooling in order to flower the following Spring.

If your soil is compacted break it up with a garden fork and work in plenty of organic matter such as well-rotted manure or compost. Daffodils like a moist but free draining soil. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded spot which receives at least 3 hours of sun per day daffodils won't flower in heavy shade. If flowering is poor you can top-dress the soil around your daffodils with a slow-release bulb fertilizer each spring. Simply sprinkle the fertilizer around the soil at the base of the leaves. Plant your daffodil bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards at a depth of about 10cm (4in). Deep planting is important to prevent the bulbs dividing and producing lots of small bulbs which won't flower. Space them about two bulb-widths apart.Naturalizing Daffodils are well suited to naturalizing in areas of lawn or rough grass. When planting in grass, try not to lay out the bulbs too neatly as this spoil the natural effect, use a bulb planter to remove a core of turf, before placing the bulb inside and covering back over. Take care not to mow these areas of grass until June or July to allow the foliage to die down and build the bulb up for next year.In containers All Daffodils can be grown in containers, the same rules apply as for planting in the ground, planting about 10cm (4in) deep. When growing daffodils in pots, they can be placed much closer together than normal, to give a fuller display. Space them about one bulb-width apart.Dead-head after flowering If you didn't use your daffodils for cut flowers, it's a good idea to dead-head them once the flowers fade. This prevents the plants wasting energy forming seeds and prevents daffodil blindness which is when the leaves app

Unit price perPlant daffodils in a sunny spot, one that gets at least 6 hours of bright sun each day. If planted in partial shade, the plants will still produce green leaves, but they won’t bloom. Like most bulbs, daffodils prefer well-drained soil; otherwise they are prone to rotting. When to Plant Daffodils The best time to plant daffodil bulbs is in the fall (exact timing can range anywhere from September to late November, depending on where you live). The soil needs to have cooled off, but the ground still needs to be workable when you plant. The ideal soil temperature for planting daffodils is 60 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of 6 inches. How to Prepare the Soil for Planting Daffodils Prepare new planting areas with good soil with plant food , mixing 3 inches in with the top 6 to 8 inches of existing soil. This will provide bulbs with the nutrition they need to grow a strong root system in preparation for spring flowering.

Darjeeling Banana Tree Seeds for Planting (5 Seeds) - Musa sikkimensis - Excellent Indoor Banana Plant

Unit price perDarjeeling Banana Tree Seeds for Planting (5 Seeds) - Musa sikkimensis - Excellent Indoor Banana Plant
$9.86
Unit price perWow! This large banana species sports a massive pseudostem to 4.5 m (14 ft.) tall and 45 cm (18 in.) in diameter, which is tinged with red. Its new leaves and leaf midribs are purple, and a percentage of plants even exhibit beautifully dark red mottled leaves when young. The Darjeeling Banana is very hardy to cold (i.e. in the sense of Musa basjoo), coming, as it does, from montane forests up to 2000 m (6000 ft.) in the Himalayas of Northeast India. First trials outdoors in the U.S., Britain, Germany, and Switzerland have shown an excellent resistance to cold and frost. Like all bananas, it is extremely fast growing given rich soil and an abundance of water. The fruits have a sweetish pulp but are hard and contain a few large seeds. The Darjeeling Banana was originally introduced into cultivation and made popular by Toby Spanner and Martin Gibbons, and it now shows to live up well to the expectations that were placed in it as an ornamental for the temperate as well as the cooler tropical garden. It has more potential than any other cold tolerant Musa in cultivation today.
